At yesterday’s court session, the State Prosecutor requested that Andrei Haidukou, defendant in the spy trial, be jailed for two years, as reported by Prosecutor General of Belarus Aliaksandr Kaniuk.
Thus, it became clear that the charges brought against Andrei Haidukou had been changed. However, Mr. Kaniuk failed to dwell on the issue.
Andrei Haidukou was arrested in Vitsebsk on 8 August, 2012 “while making a dead drop with information that may be of interest to foreign intelligence services.”
The trial has been held behind closed doors.
The verdict is expected to be pronounced on 1 July.
