BCD activist to stand trial for commemoration of Dzmitry Zavadzki
The format of the action, dedicated to the 13th anniversary since journalist Dzmitry Zavadzki was kidnapped and disappeared, is unknown as the activist held it on his own, notes the BCD press-office.
Pavel Prakapovich managed to inform that he was detained via a text message to his friends. He will stand trial in the Soviet district court of Minsk.
We remind, a cameraman, member of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Dzmitry Zavadzki disappeared in Belarus on July 7, 2000. He was 27. In 1994-1997 Zavadzki worked in Alyaksandr Lukashenka's pool as a cameraman. Since January 1997, he left for the Civil Russian Television, worked with Pavel Sheremet.
In 2002, Minsk regional court considered a group headed by ex-special troop "Almaz" fighter Valery Ihnatovich guilty of kidnapping Dzmitry Zavadzki. Two members of this group, including Ihnatovich himself, were sentenced to life-time imprisonment. However, Dzmitry Zavadzki's body is still unfound.
