Brest: adherents of Belarusian Christian Democracy want to register as a public association
The activists
applied to the Justice Department of the Brest Regional Executive
Committee for registration of the public association "Brest
Christian Democrats". This is the way the local adherents of the
Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD) intend to legalize their
activiites, as far as all previous campaigns for the registration of
the party were unsuccessful: the Ministry of Justice repeatedly
refused to provide the state registration for the party.
The
head of the public association "Brest Christian Democrats",
Zmitser Shurkhai, has little hope for the registration of the NGO. On
the other hand, he says that all documents for the registration were
prepared in confirmity with the legislation, the NGO is founded by
real people who were present at the constituent assembly, that's why
there are no legal reasons for the registration denial.
The
organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy considers
the registration of regional public association as a part of its
strategy for the protection of its members.
