First hearing in the case of dismissed trade union activist Leanid Dubanosau
The hearings on the
case of an activist of the trade union organization at the "Granite"
enterprise Leanid Dubanosau started at the Luninets District Court.
The activist claims he was unlawfully dismissed from the
plant and seeks to be reinstated at his work. He also asks the court
to oblige the administration of "Granite" to pay the
material aids for his vacations, as provided by the collective
agreement.
As it was found out during the hearing, the
application for the payment of the material aid disappeared. The
person who represented the interests of "Granite" at court
stated that the activist allegedly hadn't filed such an application.
It was also discovered that on 7 March the administration of the
enterprise mailed a note about the non-extension of the labor
contract to the address where Mr. Dubanosau didn't leave. Somebody
signed for receiving the notice instead of him. The judge was
informed about this.
The next hearing will take place on 23
July.
Bear in mind that Leanid Dubanosau was fired from work
in May, while being on a vacation leave. The alleged reasons for the
dismissal were two violations. According to the plant administration,
one of them occured on 29 February (when the worker was on a sick
leave), and the other – on 4 March (when he was on the vacation
leave).
Mr. Dubanosau and other members of the independent
trade union (many of whom have been also fired from the plant)
believe that the real reason for the dismissal was his trade union
activism.
