Political prisoner Yauhen Vaskovich placed in penal cell again
The activist of the Belarusian
Christian Democracy Yauhen Vaskovich served another ten-day term in
the penal cell in the Mahiliou prison No. 4.
“At the end of
July Yauhen was put in the penal cell and was released from it on 3
August. He was put there for ten days, he didn't even tell the formal
reasons, as he is placed there very month,” stated the secretary of
the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy
Dzianis Sadouski.
Starting from May 2011, when Mr. Vaskovich
started serving his prison term, he spent almost 200 days in the
penal cell. According to Dzianis Sadouski, the prison administration
continues insisting that he wrote a clemency petition for Lukashenka,
whereas he blankly refuses to do it.
Yauhen Vaskovich was sentenced to
seven years of imprisonment for setting fire to the doors of the
Babruisk KGB office.
