Justice Bureau admits that Vitsebsk judges overstep the law
The appeals of the human rights
defender Pavel Levinau to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of
Belarus were considered at a working meeting of the main justice
bureau of the Vitsebsk Regional Executive Committee.
As a
result, Natallia Karablina, Judge of the Pershamaiski District Court
of Vitsebsk, was pointed at the inadmissibility of further violation
of process legislation during the consideration of administrative
cases.
The justice bureau also filed a letter to the
Pershamaiski District Court of Vitsebsk concerning violations of the
criminal process legislation by Judge Andrei Preis, which manifested
in the absence of reaction to the appeals against the refusal of to
bring a criminal case, and neglect of the requirements of procedural
law in the administration of justice. Some time ago, an assessment of
the actions of Judge Preis was conducted by the deputy head of the
Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus Valery Kalinkovich.
As
a result of consideration of the appeals of the human rights
defender, the head of the Pershamaiski District Court of Vitsebsk, A.
Andrushenka, was also pointed at the need for a greater control over
the work of judges and more principled response to appeals of
citizens on the actions of judges.
