Political prisoner Prakapenka can receive food parcels
The administration of penal colony No. 15 in Mahiliou lifted a ban on food parcels for Artsiom Prakapenka, says his father Anatol Prakapenka, as quoted by the Nasha Niva newspaper.
"We are now returning from Mahiliou. We managed to pass to Artsiom 35 kilograms of food stuffs, of which five kilograms are fruits. We are very pleased that we were able to pass it, because we feared that he could be deprived of them again, as it was on March 4," said the father of the political prisoner.
He added that the status of a "malicious offender" has not yet been removed from Artsiom, and he needs to serve a year without violations for that.
"We did not see our son, but we know that he copes with it. I feel that it’s hard on him, but he does not recognize it. Recently, he called and said he had applied for learning to be a mason, but there is no decision yet. He wants to get an education, because he still has 4.5 years to serve", said Anatol Prakapenka.
In March of this year, Artsiom Prakapenka served five days in solitary confinement for alleged violation of the prison regime, where refused food. The political prisoner was subjected to pressure in order to force him to sign a petition for clemency, but he declined.
Artsiom Prakapenka was convicted, along with Yauhen Vaskovich and Pavel Syramalotau, to 7 years in prison for allegedly trying to set fire to the doors of the Babruisk department of the KGB.
