Leanid Dubanosau, activist of the independent trade union, is appealing the decision of the district court of Luninets, which upheld his dismissal from the company "Granit" and found no evidence of discrimination based on trade union affiliation.

The court’s ruling of September 11 said that Dubanosau was fired in violation of the law (for which it issued a particular decision) and he had a right to demand compensation for moral damage. In addition, the administration of "Granite" was to pay the trade union activist financial aid of 1 million rubles.

However, the Chairman of the District Court Mikhail Dzenisovich announced that the violations found during the hearing could not serve as the basis for the restoration of Leanid Dubanosau at work. The judge also dismissed the part of the claim relating to the termination of discrimination based on trade union affiliation from the leadership of the Mikashevichy-based enterprise, as urged by the activist.

According to the trade union activist, who worked at "Granite" for almost 20 years, after the trial there were rumors that he allegedly received money from abroad, and therefore Dubanosau needed no support and solidarity. In his opinion, the spread of such rumors is evidence of ongoing discrediting of the independent trade union orchestrated by the local authorities and the management of "Granite".
