Baranavichy City Executive Committee bans a picket in honor of the International Day for Decent Work
Baranavichy CEC banned the picket for
the International Day for Decent Work. This became known from a
letter signed by the deputy head of the executive committee, Dz.
Kastsiukevich, received by an activist of the Baranavichy city unit
of the Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry Ryhor Hryk.
The
government official stated that the authorities didn't give its
consent to holding a picket on 7 October 2013, as far as the
applicant didn't implement the requirements of point 4 of the ruling
of the executive committee of 16 June 2009 "On the order of
holding mass events in Baranavichy" (as amended by the ruling
No. 2497 of the Baranavichy City Executive Committee of 5 October
2009).
“It is virtually impossible to enter into a service
agreement with the police in Baranavichy. I managed to enter into
such a contract for serving of the picket on 7 October only after
filing a written appeal to the head of the Baranavichy CEC Viktar
Dzichkouski. I wasted a lot of time on red tape with the police,
which was artificially created by the police major Pavel Kulhavik. I
think that it became the main reason why the rally was banned,”
said Ryhor Hryk.
It was planned that the picket would be
attended by about ten people. The Baranavichy CEC turned down Hryk's
earlier applications for holding protest picket against the rising
prices of goods, services, and the freezing of wages in 2012-2013.
