Parliament keeps violating public petitions law

The General Prosecutor's Office forwarded a complaint by United Civil Party activist Viktar Malochka to the House of Representatives, which eventually confirmed violations of the Law "On Public Appeals” by MPs representing Salihorsk constituencies Yauhen Abalenski and Taisa Danilevich.

Among others, the Standing Commission on State-Building, Local Government and Regulations admitted violations of the period for the consideration of appeals established by law. As a result, the two MPs were recommended to comply with the requirements of the law when considering complaints received from citizens.

In early October, MPs Danilevich and Abalenski responded to Viktar Malochka’s appeal concerning the construction of a new clinic in Salihorsk. They say that they realize the importance of the problem raised and therefore petitioned the Minister of Health Care with a parliamentary inquiry about the possibility of allocating resources for priority resolving of the question. The results of consideration of the request by the Ministry of Health Care were promised to be reported to the UCP activist in the near future.

It would seem that the story of violation of the Law "On Public Appeals” could be closed. But it turned out that the answers sent by the Standing Commission and the MPs were given in Russian, although Viktar Malochka had written all his petitions and complaints exclusively in Belarusian. As a result, the activist faces quite an absurd situation: recognizing a violation of the law, the Parliament violates it again, but in a different part. On this occasion, the activist of the United Civil Party is preparing another appeal to the "people's representatives".
