On October 21, Mikalai Ulasevich, civil society and political activist from Astravets district, Hrodna region, received a message from his Lithuania-based lawyer. On this day, the highest court of the country dismissed an appeal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania against the decision of the administrative court of Vilnius, which found violations in the decision of the authorities of Lithuania to ban Ulasevich’s entry to the country for three months in September of 2012 due to the fact that a referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant was then being held.

Mikalai Ulasevich commented on the news, “Anyway, the news is good, although it seems to be not relevant to me. I can now easily visit Lithuania. But all that has happened in this case is very important. Because this is another confirmation of the fact that the judicial system in Lithuania is unbiased and it once again demonstrated its independence.”
