Member of the Movement "For Freedom" Viktar Syrytsa received a letter signed by Deputy Prosecutor of Brest region, A.T. Tachko, who said that there were no violations of law during the consideration of his complaint in Baranavichy district prosecutor's office. Therefore, he found no grounds for disciplinary action against the Baranavichy interdistrict prosecutor.

Viktar Syrytsa’s complaint dealt with his conviction of violating the order of organizing the Milavidy Festival and a subsequent fine of 2 mln rubles from the district court of Baranavichy and the city of Baranavichy. Disagreeing with the decision of the court, Viktar Syrytsa addressed Baranavichy interdistrict prosecutor with a statement in which he asked him to protest the court ruling. However, the prosecutor did not even ask to send him the administrative case file, and the activist was advised to wait for a decision of the Regional Court, which, according to the prosecutor, was going to unbisaedly sort out his administrative case.

Considering this and in accordance with Article 55 of the Law "On Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Belarus", the activist asked the prosecutor of Brest region to bring Baranavichy interdistrict prosecutor to liability for failure to perform his duties.

“One gets an impression that all our complaints are not considered by the municipal and regional prosecutors, but forwarded to other government agencies, thus avoiding their duties. And we, instead of constructive work, are involved in unnecessary bureaucratic red tape,” says Viktar Syrytsa.
