Assault on Polatsk democrats

At 4.30 p.m. in Polatsk the police detained five activists of the Polatsk coalition of democratic forces, at the local office of the civil campaign “Tell the Truth!”: Yury Belski, Aleh Kraiko, Anatol Prakapenka, Anton Yasinovich and Yauhen Vilski.

As stated by the "Free Region”, the “assault” on the office was conducted by three policemen in the uniform and several workers of the communal utilities, who acted as witnesses.

It was stated that by the police that the assembly of the oppositionists was taking place in non-working hours and disturbed the local dwellers. All detainees were taken to the Polatsk District Police Department. They were released two hours later, after giving explanations.

The office of the civil campaign “Tell the Truth!” is an eyesore for the law machinery because of its active work. Now there are some formal grounds to close it down.
