Administrative case against Yauhen Kontush gets dropped due to lack of evidence of his guilt

On 11 November in Minsk Tsentralny District Court held a second trial on the administrative case of an activist of the National-Bolshevik movement Yauhen Kontush, who on 22 August had been sentenced to a fine of 12 basic units by Judge Viktoryia Shabunia under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code, a violation of the order of organizing and holding mass events.

Disagreeing with this verdict, the activist filed an appeal tothe Minsk City Court. Judge ValeryKamisarau overturned the ruling and sent the case back for a new trial in the Tsentralny District Court.

As it was found during the new trial, in August Judge Viktoryia Shabunia refused to grant Kontush's petition to require the mobile operator to provide information about his location at the time of the violation. The new judge, Leanid Yasinovich, granted this application. As it was found out, Yauhen Kontush really was not in the place where the police detained the National-Bolsheviks who protested against the “army slavery".

Now activist intends to seek a compensation for the unlawful actions of the police.

It's worth mentioning that last year Yauhen Kontush was also acquitted on charges of organizing an unauthorized mass event – the Savetski District Court of Minsk ruled that there was no sufficient evidence of his guilt.
