Another picket banned in Baranavichy
Baranavichy city executive committee banned a rally under the slogan “They must be stopped”,“Public control for actions of the authorities”. It is said in a letter signed by the deputy chairman of the executive committee Mr. Kastsiukevich received by local trade union activist Ryhor Hryk. The official said that the government would not allow the rally, as the slogan of the claimed mass action violated the requirements of Art. 10 of the Law “On Mass Events in the Republic of Belarus”.
“Baranavichy officials violate decrees and orders of the President, as well as laws, so I would like to protest against the non-fulfillment of state laws by the "servants of the people". But once again I was not allowed to hold a rally. And indeed our government officials believe that there should be no public control over them,” saysRyhor Hryk.
The picket of only 3 persons was scheduled for November 16.
In2012-2013,Baranavichycity authorities have banned all the mass events applied for by independent organizations and civil society activists, even those planned to be staged in a permitted location, the old city park, rarely visited by people.
