Vasil Parfiankou to stand another trial on November 28
The Court of Minsk’s Pershamaiski district will hear on November 28 the charges brought against former political prisoners Vasil Parfiankou. He is accused of violating the rules of serving preventive police supervision (Article 421 of the Criminal Code).
Since September 21, Vasil Parfiankou has been held in an activity therapy center in the town of Svetlahorsk, Homel region. He is expected to be escorted to the courtroom.
On February 9, political prisoner Vasil Parfiankou was released from a detention center in Baranvichy.
On May 29, 2012 Vasil Parfiankou was convicted under Article 421 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. Minsk’s Pershamaiski Court Judge Siarhei Bandarenka found him guilty of breaking the rules of preventive supervision. The restrictions for a period of one year were imposed on him on January 5, 2012. The reason for this was Parfiankou’s involvement in social and political life.
On July 24, Minsk City Court dismissed Parfiankou’s appeal against a 6-month arrest for non-compliance with the preventive supervision restrictions. On August 9, 2012 Vasil Parfiankou was taken into custody again.
