Sweden’s Östgruppen launches project to campaign for freedom of assembly in Belarus

The Swedish human rights organization «Östgruppen» launched a web project entitled “To Dare - To Think – To Say” (“Våga, tycka, tala”). This is an interactive map, which shows the situation of freedom of assembly in Belarus, as well as the methods by which that right is violated, www.svaboda.org reports.
According to head of the project Sofia Uggla, with this interactive map the human rights activists of «Östgruppen» want to help fellow citizens to better understand the Belarusian problem. Many Swedes think it is almost incredible that the civil society activists in Belarus are constantly under pressure from the authorities and suffer from such prosecution, says she.
“However, Belarusian who, despite threats and repression, are still not afraid to voice their opinions on the streets, deserve our admiration,” adds the project manager. She hopes that the site will be periodically updated with information.
