Activist complains about detention conditions
Leanid Smouzh, complains about the conditions of detention at the Center for isolation of offenders in Minsk’s Akrestsin Street, where he was held after a demonstration staged on November 10.
In his complaint, Leanid Smouzh notes that he did not receive any meals for two days. No physical examination was carried out after he was taken to the detention center. His relatives were not informed of his arrest, citing the fact that there was no way to call long distance numbers (Leanid Smouzh lives in Stoubtsy district, Minsk region).
His complaint filed to the Prosecutor’s Office mentions the same facts familiar to anyone who has ever found himself in the facility in Akrestsin Street, namely cold batteries, poor lighting in the cells, and no personal hygiene at all.
Leanid Smouzh also stresses that no liquids were given for lunch and dinner, juice, tea, or just boiled water, while drinking water from the tap was not possible because of a strong smell of chlorine.
The former prisoner asks the prosecutor of Minsk to inspect, establish the violations and take measures to prevent them in future.
