MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Elections to the Belarusian local councils of deputies of the 27th convocation is scheduled for 23 March 2014. Alexander Lukashenko signed relevant decree No557 on 16 December, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

The date has been set in line with the deadline for the formation of territorial election commissions, preparation and holding of other electoral events in accordance with the Constitution of Belarus and the Electoral Code of Belarus.

The Central Election Commission has been tasked with organizing the local elections and monitoring the execution of the electoral laws.

Government agencies and other state organizations will secure proper and timely implementation of all organizational events related to the local elections.

The electoral campaign will be financed from the budget.
