A trade union activist Ryhor Hryk filed yesterday a complaint to Baranavichy Inter-District Prosecutor's Office to challenge the illegal actions of the city’s executive authorities who banned a rally under the slogan “Civilian Control for Actions of the Authorities and the Laws of Belarus”. The picket was expected to be staged on January 26. The activist stresses he met all the requirements of the law on mass events.

“In my complaint I indicated that Baranavichy city executive committee violated Article 6 of the Law "On Mass Events in the Republic of Belarus", as I did not receive a response to my application by the scheduled time of the rally,” says Ryhor Hryk.

The activist asks the prosecutor to investigate the case and take measures of prosecutorial response against the executive committee’s employee responsible for violating the requirement of Art. 6 of the Mass Events Code.
