Civil society activist Ryhor Hryk filed a lawsuit with the Baranavichy City and District Court against the unlawful actions of the city officials, who unlawfully prohibited him to hold a picket and failed to timely inform him about the prohibition.

Mr. Hryk intended to hold his picket on January 26 under the title “Let's bring the actions of the authorities and the laws of the Republic of Belarus
under civilian control" in order to attract public attention to the delays and lack of response from officials to applications of citizens. However, as a result he got in an absurd situation – he didn't receive a timely response to his application for the picket.

“Earlier, the executive committee used to regularly send its answers by registered mail, that's why this time I also went to the post office, but there weren't any letters for me”, stated Mr. Hryk.

The activist's appeal with the Baranavichy inter-
district prosecutor's office brought no results, that's why Ryhor Hryk has applied to court. He asks to declare the decision of Chairman of the Brest City Executive Committee of January 15, 2014 to prohibit his picket on January 26, 2014 legally void due to violation of Art. 33 and 35 of the Constitution.
