The Astravets District Executive Committee got very worried on learning about the nomination of the socio-political activist Mikalai Ulasevich as a candidate for the local elections. On February 14 he was visited by two officers of the crime investigation department right in his house.

The policemen wanted to check the authenticity of the minutes of the regional council of the United Civil Party concerning the nomination of Mr. Ulasevich as a candidate for the regional council. Mr. Ulasevich refused to give any explanations, saying that such issues were not within the competence of the criminal police.

Before that, Aliaksandra Vasilevich, acting chairperson for the regional UCP organization, was questioned on this issue at the Kastrychnitski District Police Department of Hrodna. According to Mikalai Ulasevich, such scrutiny of the minutes was ordered by Chairman of the Astravets District Election Commission Tadevush Subatkevich, who applied to the Astravets District Prosecutor's Office. Astravets prosecutor Aliaksandr Martsinchyk, in his turn, forwarded Subatkevich's appeal to the head of the Astravets police, Uladzimir Kvach.
