The family of Andrei Haidukou, who is serving a sentence in Mahiliou penal colony No. 19, have had a long meeting with the prisoner. This was reported by his mother Volha Haidukova. "My husband and I are returning from Mahiliou. The meeting was O.K. Andrei feels well, his mood is good, too. We were there for three days: we arrived on Friday afternoon and now we are driving back," she said.

Volha Haidukova added that "Andrei wants to go home". "He should be released on 8 May, so just two months remain, in fact. So we are looking forward," said the mother of the political prisoner.

On July 1, 2013, an opposition activist Andrei Haidukou was found guilty of trying to establish contacts with foreign intelligence and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison. The sentence was passed by the Vitsebsk Regional Court, and the hearing was held behind closed doors.
