Baranavichy: activist gets detained for action of solidarity with Ukraine
On March 4, civil society activist Uladzimir Hundar held one-man picket of solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
The activist unfurled a poster painted in the colours of the Ukrainian (blue-yellow) and the national Belarusian (white-red-white) flags, with the inscription “Putin's gang-aggressors, get out of the Ukraine, get out of Belarus”.
This extraordinary deed attracted the attention of many passers-by. Some of the protesters expressed their support, some others condemned it.
10 minutes after the start of the picket Uladzimir was approached by police officers. They checked his documents and walked further. In some time they returned and asked him to twist the poster. They called a police car and took Mr. Hundar to the Baranavichy City Police Department. There they drew up a violation report, after which the activist was let go.
