Rechytsa authorities scared of democratic candidate's speech

Rechytsa district radio refuses to broadcast unsensored appeal to voters of a candidate for the district council, businessman and coordinator of the campaign "Tell the Truth!" Aleh Shabetnik.

"My speech was recorded on the radio, but I was warned that it would be passed to the district election commission, and then – to the central election commission, who will check eit for violations.

In my speech, I spoke about the "People's Referendum", initiated by "Tell the Truth", Belarusian Popular Front and movement "For Freedom" for the election of chairpersons of executive committees, as well as the president, for no more than two terms and a return to free education. Apparently, it all scares the radio, and the election commissions, " said the candidate to the monitoring service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists.

By the way, apart from the district council, Mr. Shabetnikau was also nominated to the Homel regional council in Holmetskaya election constituency No. 52. However, his candidacy wasn't registered. As a result, Chairperson of the Homel regional tax inspection is running there unopposed.
