A candidate from the United Civil Party Anton Zhylko will stand trial for distributing leaflets about the celebration of Freedom Day on March 25, an event officially authorized by the Minsk city executive committee, Radio Free Europe’s Belarus services said.
He was detained yesterday at the entrance to the metro station "Traktarny Zavod", where along with his proxy Hanna Kanapatskaya he was handing out leaflets and invitations to a meeting with voters.
As a result, Anton Zhylko was charged with an administrative offence under Article 23.32 for illegal picketing. The trial will be held on March 24.
