Journalist Ales Burakou has filed an appropriate appeal to the Mahiliou police. He asks to identify the persons who hacked passwords and deleted the content of the site and bring them to legal account.

In his appeal the journalist states that the domain name
formats.by has belonged to him since September 2012, hosting the website “Platform of civil journalism. Free Format”, which ceased to exist February 10, 2014, when the updates of the website stopped, but it was maintained online.

March 14, the site editor
lost the control over the website as a result of the activities of unidentified attackers who hacked the site, removed the old content, and published two articles on it to discredit Mahiliou residents who are engaged in politics, including a member of the Belarusian Popular Front Siarhei Niahatsin.

The site editor managed to regain control over the website only on March 15.

Moreover, Mr. Burakou states that unidentified person sends information to him and Mahiliou politicians, journalists and public activists from the mailbox a.burakov74@gmail.com, which is not owned by him.

The journalist also asks the police to identify the author of these letters, bring him to justice and block this email address.
