The incident happened with an activist of the civil campaign "Tell the Truth" Sviatlana Nikadzimuk who collected signatures of residents of Brest for “People's Referendum” and visited a multi-storey building for it.

A resident of one of the apartments
stated that he needed to get better acquainted with the proposed issue of "People's referendum", invited the woman in and then locked the door. After this, he told that he was a “retired police officer” and called the police. He also stated that the organizers and activists of “People's Referendum” need to be imprisoned.

As a result, Sviatlana Nikadzimuk taken to the LeninskiDistrict Police Department of Brest, where a report of questioning was drawn up on her, and the signature sheet was confiscated. According to the local coordinator of the civil campaign “Tell the Truth” Ihar Maslouski who personally went to the police department, he explained in writing the legality of collecting signatures.

Mr. Maslouski has also filed an appeal with the head of the DPD on behalf of activists of hte civil campaign, asking to return the activist the signatures sheet with signatures of residents of Brest in comliance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On applications of citizens and legal bodies” and punish the citizen who unlawfully detained Sviatlana Nikadzimuk in his apartment.
