On May 26, an administrative case of Aliaksandr Paliakou, an activist of the National Bolshevik movement, was considered in Minsk Tsentralny District Court.

The activist was detained by riot police in the evening on May 24 near the hospitality zone for hockey fans outside the Sports Palace. He was reportedly displaying the Belarusian national white-red-white flag.

“At first, two riot police came up and asked to hide the flag, and we obeyed. Later the same riot policemen came and asked Aliaksandr to follow them for a talk. We waited for him for about an hour. Then he called and said that he was charged under Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code for allegedly harassing citizens and swearing,” the activist’s friends told charter97.org.

Today Judge Viktorya Shabunia found Aliaksandr Paliakou guilty under Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code for “petty hooliganism” and punished by a fine of 300,000 rubles. Prior to trial, the activist spent over 24 hours in custody.

This is the second arrest for Aliaksandr Paliakou during the Ice Hockey Championship in Minsk. After the detention on May 6 he was punished by an administrative arrest of 10 days and was released on May 16.
