Andrei Mialeshka, a freelance journalist of Hrodna, has been summoned the Kastrychnitski District Court. Last evening, he received a phone call from the district court’s secretary who said that he should have appeared in court. It later turned out that the subpoena was held in the post-office. Now Andrei Mialeshka will have to appear in court today, on May 30. However, the journalist intends to file a petition to postpone the trial, as he is going to use the services of a lawyer who needs time to study the case file.

The journalist is prosecuted for allegedly working for the Belarusian Radio Racyja without accreditation. Earlier, Andrei Mialeshka received a prosecutor’s warning. The current administrative case was initiated as a result of an article published on Radio Racyja’s website in April. The publication told about a campaign entitled “A Healthy Heart”. The journalist allegedly had no right to interview the doctors who were involved in the campaign.
