Salihorsk human rights activists demand prosecutor’s response to the career ban for those who committed an administrative offense
Representative of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee (BHC) Uladzimir Shyla from Salihorsk sent an official request to the prosecutor of Salihorsk district. In his request Shyla is demanding to assess the actions and bring to responsibility the representatives of the Directorate of the First Mining Group of public corporation "Belaruskalij" for taking unlawful decisions regarding its employees.
In February 2014, the administration of the First Mining Group decided to take measures of a radical nature against those employees who had committed an administrative offense.
The decision created a dangerous precedent of depriving person of career promotion opportunities and professional advancement for an indefinite period just for committing an administrative offense.
According to BHC human rights defenders, this approach does not comply not only with the collective labour agreement of public corporation "Belaruskalij" and the Labour Code, but also with a number of articles of the Constitution of Belarus.
Imposing restrictions on rights and freedoms of its employees lies outside the competence of the operative meeting at Director of the First Mining Group.
Uladzimir Shyla urges the prosecutor of Salihorsk district to determine persons involved in taking of this illegal decision, and to bring them to responsibility in accordance with the law.
