Orsha: three picket applications for July 27

Orsha activists of the United Civil Party have filed three applications for holding pickets on July 27, the Day of State Sovereignty Declaration. They intend to hold all three events in the officially approved places: Park Heroyau, on the ground in front of “Aroniya” cafe and in the park of work and recreation of textilemen.

The aim of the events is to remind about the values of independence and state sovereignty and express solidarity with the Ukrainian people in his wish to preserve the unity and independence of the Ukraine.

Now the activists look forward to hearing from Orsha District Executive Committee. Meanwhile, local authorities usually give refusals to civil society activists: not a single street event was authorized over the last three years. The activists believe that by doing so the authorities violate their rights under Art. 35 of the Constitution and Art. 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, not letting them to use the opportunities, provided by the Law ”On Mass Events”.
