Until now, the Human Rights Center "Viasna" haven't published photos taken by the mother of Aliaksandr Akulich, deceased in the temporary detention center of the Svetlahorsk District Police Department. The Court finally refused to open a criminal case on the fact of his death, claiming that numerous traces of beatings on the body of the deceased "had no causal connection with the death".

This was the answer of Chirman of the Homel Regional Court Siarhei Shautsou to the mother, by which he turned down the review appeal, prepared for her by human rights activists.

Neither the investigation, nor the court want to pay attention to the real cause of the man's death.

During the last year
they have been put before the question why the attendants of the detention center R. Stseshankou and A. Bachkou are not punished for “calming down” the detainee, who showed symptoms of temporary psychic disorder, with clubs for 1.5 hours instead of calling an ambulance, which was called only after he stopped breathing.

Valiantsina Akulich made these photos at home, after receiving the son's body from the morgue.

"The legitimacy of
the actions of the police was established by the results of repeated official inspections," states Judge Shautsou in his response to the mother.

Bear in mind that Aliaksandr Akulich died
May 26, 2012 in detention center of the Svetlahorsk DPD as a result of violent actions of police officers. It was the fourth of the five days for which he was placed in the detention center. According to the forensic examination, the cause of his death wasa chronic alcohol intoxication, complicated by the development of alcohol withdrawal state with delirium and brain edema. The actions of the policemen, including the failure to timely render medical aid, haven't received legal assessment.
