Ukrainian MP deported from Minsk
Oleksandr Bryhynets, who had been detained at the airport in Minsk yesterday, was deported from Belarus.
He left for Kyiv on a Belavia plane at 8:25, BelaPAN reports.
“A border officer is escorting me to a plane. I'll be in Kyiv in an hour or so. It seems that my next visit to Russia and Belarus will be after the collapse of the Putin regime. I now have a personal interest,” Oleksandr Bryhynets wrote on Facebook.
The Ukrainian MP arrived in Minsk from Kyiv at 20:59 on July 16 with a delegation of Ukrainian and Polish MPs and human rights defenders. They were going to get to Voronezh via Minsk and Moscow. The delegation plans to meet with lawyers of Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, who had been kidnapped by separatists in Ukraine's east and sent to Russia. She is held in a detention facility in Voronezh. The delegation from Kyiv plans to talk to Savchenko and attend the trial.
Bryhynets spent the night in the airport's transit zone. He was not allowed to move freely in the zone. A consul of the Ukrainian embassy in Minsk visited the MP.
