Alternatyva leader Aleh Korban loses job
Aleh Korban, chairman of the Alternatyva NGO, has told about his sudden dismissal from Tut I Tam Logistics on his Facebook account.
“I returned to work after 10 days of arrest... and there was no work for me. Moreover, I was fired. Administrative arrests and active participation in civil and political activities do not correspond to the image of a security inspector. Now I’m officially unemployed,” said the activist.
On July 2, Minsk police detained Aleh Korban and another Alternatyva activist Uladzimir Siarheyenka.
Police officers found them at their apartments and took the activists to the police station of Partyzanski district of Minsk. On July 4, the Partyzanski District Court accused Aleh Korban of hooliganism (Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code) and sentenced him to 10 days in jail.
Human rights defenders say the harassment is linked to the celebrations of the official Independence Day on July 3.
