Activist Uladzimir Niapomniashchykh detained in Homel
Opposition activist Uladzimir Niapomniashchykh was detained this afternoon in the center of Homel. The UCP member was taken to the nearest police station.
“I walked through a yard and saw two police officers, one of them was smoking, and the other was eating a banana. When I passed them by, the sergeants stopped me and demanded that I showed my camera, as they thought I was taking pictures of them. I showed that there were no pictures of the policemen on my camera, then they asked me to show my passport. In response, I asked them to introduce themselves, they quickly showed their IDs, but I could not see anything, so I also refused to show my passport. As a result, the sergeants took me to the police station,” said the activist.
He is now at the station. No charges have been brought as yet. Uladzimir Niapomniashchykh believes that the police will charge him over his T-shirt he is now wearing. It bears two inscriptions: “For Belarus without Lukashenka” on the front and “That’s it, Tired of You!” on the other side.
