August 2, Svetlahorsk activists of the anarchist movement held an action against police brutality.

According to revbel.org, they posted about 50 posters around the city to remind the society about the shocking story of how two policemen tortured to death an ordinary guy in the detention center.

"We urge residents of Svetlahorsk not to be silent, not to close eyes to the grief of other people, not to write complaints to the same bandits in uniform, but to take action, ranging from simple spread of information about self-will, expression of dissatisfaction and disagreement with what has happened, and ending with the refusal to subordinate to Svetlahorsk police and physical impact on its officers! Every one can make their own contribution in putting an end to the death conveyor," state the action organizers.

Aliaksandr Akulich died May 26, 2012 in the detention center of the Svetlahorsk District Police Department at the hands of police officers. It was the fourth of five days, for which he was placed in the detention center. According to the conclusion of the forensic examination, the cause of his death allegedly was chronic alcohol intoxication, complicated by the development of alcohol withdrawal state with delir
ium and brain edema. Actions of the policemen have not been evaluated in terms of timeliness of rendering medical assistance.
