September 1, coordinator of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Maksim Viniarski was tried at the Savetski District Court in Minsk. Due to the failure of the witnesses to appear in court, the hearing was postponed to 2 p.m.

The case was considered by Judge Eduard Yakubouski, who found Mr. Viniarski guilty under Article 23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, “insubordination to police”, and sentenced him to 15 days of arrest.

Maksim Viniarski was detained by the police in the afternoon on August 29 in Bahdanovich Street in Minsk on coming out of Yuliya Stsiapanava's apartment. As reported by a civil society activist Leanid Kulakou, who witnessed the detention, Mr. Viniarski was told that he was wanted on suspicion of committing a crime.

As we learned later, he was taken to the Savetski District Police Department and charged with insubordination to police. That day, the activist planned to take part in the traditional cleaning at the mass grave of victims of Stalin's repressions in Kurapaty forest.
