Viktar Statkevich and Maryna Adamovich ask police to find author of anonymous threat letter
The father of Mikalai Statkevich, Viktar Statkevich, and the five of the former, Maryna Adamovich, appealed to the police in connection with an anonymous threat letter, thrown into the postbox of Viktar Statkevich on September 8.
“We were met very politely at the police department. Our appeal was accepted and we had almost a two-hour talk with a young policeman. I told that after a traditional walk I saw the so-called “St. George Ribbon” on the handle of the entrance door of my porch, and found the offensive letter in my postbox. Instead of the sender's address it was written "The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant". The text of the letter is just humiliating and a good half consists of foul expressions. The letter begins with the statement: “Like it or not, the Russian bear has woken up...," said Statkevich Sr.
88-year-old Viktar Statkevichexpressed the opinion that by this letter the unidentified terrorists try to influence his son, political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich, who constantly refuses to write a clemensy petition in the name of Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
Human rights activist Siarhei Housha who visited Viktar Statkevich noted that the police can find the authors of the threat letter if they want: they came to the entrance door and attached the ribbon to the handle. Viktar Statkevich's neighbor or passers-by could see them doing it. Time will tell whether the police will seriously investigate this case.
