Ivan Shyla serving 2 day arrest for 2011 “silent protests”
On the morning of October 2, Salihorsk “Young Front” activist Ivan Shyla paid a visit to the Salihorsk District Police Department, to which he was summoned for a “talk”. After the “talk” he was taken to the detention center. This is reported by the local human rights defender Leanid Markhotka, who visited the police department as Shyla's representative.
The conversation was held in office No. 203 by the chief of the department of law enforcement and prevention Heorhi Kryvaltsevich, who is directly responsible for controlling the opposition in the Salihorsk district. He informed Mr. Shyla that the latter hadn't served two days of arrest for participation in a silent protest action held in Salihorsk back in 2011. On the other hand, Mr. Kryvaltsevich didn't hide that the persecution of Mr. Shyla was connected to the recent reprisals against other Salihorsk young activists. According to the human rights defender, Ivan Shyla will be kept in the detention center at least until Saturday.
