Svetlahorsk activist complains to prosecutor's office about setting fire to his mailbox by unidentified persons
Svetlahorsk social activist Yury Liashenka has filed an application to the prosecutor's office requesting to check some facts of illegal actions of unidentified citizens. In the night of 4-5 November, they set his mailbox on fire.
“I called the police, and during a conversation I remembered that in August, when I returned home from the hospital, I found a threatening note at the apartment door: " Well, are you back? You won't live long here.” I ignored the note, as I had many other things to pay attention to after my illness. However, now I see that these events may be linked and fear that these actions may continue," wrote the social activist in his application to the prosecutor's office.
He believes that the actions of the unknown can be intimidating. "I have been very actively involved in the campaign to protect our city from the construction of a harmful industry, a plant producing bleached pulp. I am also struggling with the officials who violate the law while overhauling our apartment building," said Yury Liashenka.
According to him, November 22 he filed an application to the executive committee for holding a picket to draw the public attention to the numerous violations during overhaul of the house. The purpose of the mass event was to protest against the violation of the rights of persons with disabilities during overhaul and modernization of the house. The executive committee has not answered to the application so far.
