Yury Belenki to stand trial for Dziady rally
Pershamaiski District Court in Minsk will hear an administrative case against the deputy head of the Conservative Christian Party BPF.
YuryBelenki applied for rallies on November 2 and 9 in Minsk to mark Dziady, the day of commemoration of the dead, BelaPAN informs.
According to the politician, he was invited to a police station for a conversation and charged with violating part 2 of article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences (violating the order of organising or holding mass events). He was accused of failure to coordinate security measures for the rallies.
Yury Belenki noted that he had discussed the rallies with the law-enforcement bodies and asked them if they saw any violations. “The rallies went smoothly. I didn't expect any problems. It began a few days later... I think the reason is my political activity. There are no real grounds for any administrative cases against me,” he said.
Belenki says the trial was to be held on November 12, but was later postponed until November 17.
