Trial of Yury Belenki postponed to December 17

Today's hearing on an administrative case against the Deputy Chair of the Conservative Christian party «Belarusian Popular Front» Yury Belenki has been postponed to 10 a.m. on December 17.

The witnesses of the police who had protected the public order during the rally in Kurapaty on November 2. Mr. Belenki is charged with the organization of the authorized rally and procession to Kurapaty and Loshytsa ravine on November 2 and 9.

The first administrative case against Yury Belenki was considered on November 17. Mr. Belenki was found guilty of the order of conduct of mass events – for the alleged failure to reach an agreement with the police concerning the security measures during the procession to Kurapaty. He was sentenced to a fine of 3 mln Belarusian rubles.

Then, on November 28 the Leninski District Court of Minsk fined Yury Belenki for organization of the authorized procession to Loshytsa ravine on November 9.

As ruled by Judge Maryna Zapasnik, Yury Belenki, being the organizer of the procession, failed to implement the decision of Minsk City Executive Committee on payment for the services of the police who guarded the public order at the event. For this the judge fined the politician 4.5 mln rubles.
