January 19, the preliminary hearing on the case “Lohvinau vs. Ministry of Information” will take place at the Supreme Court.

The private enterprise “Lohvinau” is trying to challenge the refusal of the Ministry of Information to include it in the registry of distributors of printed products.

Last year, the management of the bookstore appealed to the Ministry of Information for the appropriate registration six times, but received refusals for insignificant reasons.

“Lohvinau” challenges one of the refusals and hopes that the decision of the Supreme Court can contribute to the reversal of the decision of the Economic Court of Minsk on the confiscation of nearly a billion Belarusian rubles of the last year's revenue.

“The Ministry of Information denied us registration on absolutely ridiculous reasons. We believe that the officials did it deliberately and violated the law. That's what we try to prove it at the Supreme Court,” said Ihar Lohvinau to the press service of the "Belarusian Association of Journalists".

The entrepreneur believes that refusals of the Ministry of Information and the subsequent tax audit, initiated by the officials, are part of the plan to destroy the bookstore. Ihar Lohvinau believes that the reason for such decision could be the publication of the album "Press-Photo of Belarus 2011", which was declared extremist almost two years after the release.

Let us remind that registration of distributors of printed editions was introduced in Belarus in 2014. The hearing was scheduled for 10 a.m. on January 19 in Valadarski Street, 8.
