Political prisoner Ihar Alinevich put in penal cell again
This is at least the fifth incarceration during the time he has spent in the correctional colony “Vitsba”.
“I haven't received letters or telephone calls from Ihar for a month already. That's why today I decided to phone to the duty officer of the colony. I must have caught him off his guard, and he immediately told me that Ihar was in the penal cell. He didn't even pretend he didn't know Ihar. Usually, they don't answer such questions immediately, but ask to call back later and promise to find out about the situation of the prisoner,” told his mother, Valiantsina Alinevich.
As reported by statkevich.org, the mother doesn't know anything about the reasons for the penalty.
Activist of the anarchist movement Ihar Alinevich was sentenced to 8 years in prison, allegedly for hooligan attacks on buildings of state agencies. He pleads innocent and refused to sign a clemensy petition in the name of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. While serving his prison term, the political prisoner managed to write a book «Going to Magadan» in which he described the conditions in the KGB remand prison.
Before his transfer to the correctional colony «Vitsba» in July 2014 Ihar Alinevich used to serve his prison term in the Navapolatsk correctional colony No. 10. However, the colony was dissolved due to unsatisfactory ecological conditions.
Ihar Alinevich has been recognized as a political prisoner by the Belarusian and international human rights community.
