Biaroza human rights defenders prepare two pickets

Biaroza human rights defenders have applied for entering into service contracts with the local hospital, public utilities services and the police for serving the pickets they intend to hold March 9 and 25.

They had to apply to the Biaroza District Police Department due to the fact that the Biaroza District Executive Committee that the latter still hasn't put its relevant regulation with the Ruling of the Council of Ministers No. 207 which stipulates that informing the police about the upcoming mass events and the need to protect the public order at them is the duty of the local authorities.

In fact, the Biaroza District Executive Committee tried to amend its ruling on the order of holding mass events in September 2014, but did it so unprofessionally that it didn't pass the legal examination at the Brest Regional Executive Committee. In November 2014, deputy chair of the Biaroza DEC Yauhen Tarasiuk again informed the human rights activists that the regulation, amended again, had been passed to the regional executive committee for another examination, and the results would be published. However, there are still no news about it.

The stated aims of the pickets in Biaroza are celebration of the 97th anniversary of the declaration of the Belarusian People's Republic (March 9) and the 97th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the Belarusian People's Republic (March 25), as well as expressing solidarity with political prisoners and protesting against the deployment of the Russian military bases in Belarus.
