Homel police intend to charge Kanstantsin Zhukouski with false reporting

February 9, the social activist from Homel received a telephone call from the Chyhunachny District Police Department. He was proposed to come to the DPD for getting charges for a false report about an offense.

Mr. Zhukouski explains: "February 7 a friend of mine phoned me and told that participants of a motocross from Belarus and Russia were standing near the socio-political centre in Paleskaya Street and were trying to break into the yard to tear down the white-red-white flag hanging over the building.

He phoned me as I live quite close from there and it was necessary to protect the centre from the bikers from the “Russian world”. I immediately called the police and ran there. At that time, there were no people in the centre's building, as it was a day off. As a result, the police are trying to make me guilty.”

Members of the biker clubs "Night Wolves" and "Russian Riders" staged the motocross "Belaya Rus" on the route Moscow - Smolensk - Navapolatsk - Minsk - Babruisk - Homel – Bryansk on February 4-8. "The way of the pilgrims passes through the holy places of historical Russian-Belarusian land. The event is carried out in honor of holy warriors-monks who accomplished the feat in the name of the Russian land, and aims to preserve and develop the historical and cultural heritage of Russia, its spiritual traditions and values," stated the organizers. The event was supported by the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Military History Society and the National Charitable Foundation.

Article 17.6 (false accusation) of the Belarusian Administrative Offenses Code provides a fine of up to 15 basic units for a false report about an offense.
