Hrodna human rights defenders summed up the fines issued to participants of the memorial action in honour of the insurgents of 1863-1864, held in the town on October 26, 2014 in the town of Svislach and in the village of Yakushouka, where the mansion of the Kalinouskis (the organizers of the anti-Russian uprising) was situated.

All in all, the police presented charges for participation in the alleged unauthorized to 17 people. 14 of them were fined by various courts in Svislach, Hrodna, Kobryn, Vaukavysk, Lida and Shklou. The total sum of the fines is 255 basic units, 38.25 million rubles. The administrative closes against three more people were closed due to the lapse of time.

The greatest profit for the state in this case was brought by Judge of the Leninski District Court of Hrodna Alena Piatrova, who fined five activists 115 basic values, 17.25 million rubles.

Predictably enough, the regional courts turned down all nine cassation appeals filed against the verdicts. Vital Huliak from Vaukavysk, Yezhy Hryhencha and Uladzimir Khilmanovich have already sent their individual communications to the United National Human Rights Committee. Some others also prepare such appeals against the unlawful penalty.
