The cassation appeal of the Salihorsk human rights activist Leanid Markhotka against the prohibition of a picket dedicated to the Universal Human Rights Day will be considered by the panel of judges on civil cases of the Minsk Regional Court at 10 a.m. on March 12.

The law doesn't oblige the sides to attend the trial. So far, there is no information that the hearing will be attended by representatives of the Salihorsk District Executive Committee and the prosecutor's office. Mr. Markhotka hasn't decided whether he will attend the hearing either.

In any case, he hopes for a fair trial of the case by the cassation instance and is still ready to continue struggling for his constitutional rights, including at the Human Rights Committee of the UN.
