Brest resident arrested for leaflets “freedom for political prisoners”
Siarhei Sukhaverkhi from Brest is in custody. Charter97.org learnt it from his friends.
“An activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD) Siarhei Sukhaverkhi from Brest was detained because he and his friend were pasting posters reading 'freedom for political prisoners' in Pinsk. His friend was released the next day, while Siarhei has been in custody since March 6.
He was sentenced to three days at first. He then was ordered to sign a police report over disorderly conduct, an offence he didn't commit. He refused, and they sentenced him to two more days on Monday. He is likely to get more days in custody today. We don't know when he will be released,” an activist says.
Siarhei Sukhaverkhi was earlier questioned by the police in connection with the leaflets in Pinsk.
